What is MISDAD?
The Syrian Center for Security and Defense Studies (MISDAD) is an independent research center established in 2025. It is a specialized center dedicated to preparing studies and in-depth analyses on security and defense affairs at the Syrian level.
The center was established in response to the needs of Syrian society in particular, and Arab society in general, and to entrench the concept of critical security, which places the protection of the human being and their centrality at the heart of understanding security risks and challenges.
Drawing on the Syrian and Arab experiences, MISDAD works to raise the level of public awareness of security and defense issues through the production of scientific, objective knowledge that contributes to addressing them effectively, whether at the level of Syria and the region or in terms of their impact on, and interaction with, regional and international policies. To this end, the center relies on building strategic partnerships with regional and international institutions.
MISDAD aspires to become a trusted reference for decision-makers and researchers, and a knowledge source that contributes to the development of security and defense policies, by providing strategic insights grounded in meticulous research, deep analysis, field studies, and real-world dynamics on the ground
The center also gives special attention to monitoring geopolitical transformations and analyzing regional and international defense policies, while remaining committed to delivering scientific output that strengthens awareness and supports an informed and responsible environment for security and defense decision-making.
MISDAD includes a group of Arab and foreign researchers from diverse scientific and academic backgrounds, in addition to its ongoing cooperation with independent researchers, in order to enrich the diversity of expertise and promote deeper research approaches.
